Electronics: PCB Design Consultants
PCB design consultants are experts at optimizing circuits per your application. To an outsider, the techniques PCB design specialists use may seem like magic. However, there is a method to the madness. PCB design consultants use computer aided design software and well known algorithms to compute precisely how a circuit board should behave in the real world.
Indeed, if you want to manufacture a board for an application (like a computer or a large memory chip) it may be a smart move to work with consultants during the earliest stages. After all, it wont cost your company that much more to hire the services of these experts. Many manufacturers these days hire out their own design consultants to encourage producers to work with them.
Working with PCB Consultants
So what can you do to make the design process smoother? First of all, make sure that both the engineers and the manufacturers are up to speed on what constitutes appropriate specs. For instance, many times, both sides disagree as to the specifications for copper sheet length and substrate conductivity. After all, copper is not a perfect conductor; nor is the epoxy substrate used in most circuit boards a perfect resistor.
Since modern PCBs are so small and delicate, its important to maintain them carefully during the design and fabrication process. Most manufacturing facilities go to incredible lengths to keep their fabrication rooms clean. However, impurities sometimes gum up the works. Thats why its helpful to design PCBs that are a little more rugged, so they can be easily combined with electrical source circuits in the final product.
